The Town of Topsham is representative of a back country hill town in Vermont.
It is comprised of three villages: East Topsham, Waits River and West Topsham. The winter is long, the summer is full of activities, the spring and fall are glorious.
The people then as now are independent, hard working and ingenious. There are farmers, loggers, carpenters, contractors, artists, authors and business people. Only a few operating dairy farms remain but many folks live a rural life with backyard livestock and vegetable gardens. Maple Sugaring still happens in Topsham every spring. Some sugarmakers hang a few buckets and boil sap on a wood stove. Others have the latest state of the art sugaring equipment and sugarhouses.
